Week One | Presence Focused

We are people of the Presence.

That is what defines us.’

Richard Gordon

It’s the first week of a brand new year. What does the future hold? How will I know what takes top priority and what is not that important?

What am I going to do today?’ is a question we all ask when we wake up every morning.

I will not ask my schedule that question. I will not ask my family, nor will I let my work dictate how my day will unfold.

Instead, I will become quiet within myself, and posture myself before the Lord. I will ask instead:

‘What do You want me to do today, Lord?’

I wait for an answer. Then, a gentle response comes my way.

‘Today, let’s just do everything together.’

This is a journey, a relationship. It’s all about being led by an unseen Presence.

I take His hand, and we kick off this day – this year – together.

Adventure awaits.

‘We’re in a season where we don’t know where we’re going, but we know we can’t stay.

It’s like a road trip; you get in the car, and you don’t know where you’re going.

This is what it’s like being led by the Spirit – and not by theology.’

‘Where you’re going is not about being the expert, it’s about knowing Who you’re walking with.

People who walk with God don’t need to know where they are going. They don’t have a five-year-plan, they’ve got a one-moment-plan, which has been in union with God and it’s like the winds. They’ll go where He goes, and do what He pleases. They’ve let go of the ego, they’ve let go of their ways. Because His thoughts are higher than your thoughts, His ways are higher than your ways.

All you have to do is join the dance and your life becomes full of bliss and joy.

It’s unnecessary to be anxious or fret about anything.

I’m in Him, and He is in me. You are one. It’s too late, it can’t be undone. He’s drawing us out and he’s calling us to the edge. I said, ‘I can’t fly.’ He pushed me to the edge, and I could fly.

Come to the edge; you are made for so much more.’

The Lord said, ‘My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.’

Moses replied, ‘If Your Presence does not go with us, do not bring us up from here. For how then will it be known that Your people and I have found grace in your sight, except You go with us? So we shall be separate, Your people and I, from all the people who are upon the face of the earth.’

The Lord said, ‘I will also do this thing you have spoken; for you have found grace in My sight, and I know you by name.’’

Exodus 33:14-17
