Last night, my mother and I were both spoiled with a beautiful 3-course meal at De Viswijf Restaurant, where the StrongerHER International Top 5 finalists gathered. This competition is an initiative in collaboration with the Kouga Municipality and Birmingham, Alabama (USA). The women were inspiring, the conversations were refreshing, and the atmosphere was one of celebration and connection.
Although my mom didn’t walk away with the award this time, I couldn’t be more proud of her. From launching a ministry school and creative programs, to quietly counselling women through trauma and grief, her work often goes unseen—but the impact is profound, lasting, and transformational. She’s helped countless women in Jeffrey’s Bay find healing, purpose, and creative expression, all while courageously rebuilding her own life after loss.
I’m still incredibly proud of her and so excited to see what else is in store for her. This is just the beginning.
