I am thrilled to share some exciting news—next week, I’ll be heading to Cape Town to participate in FAME Week Africa 2025!
I recently received confirmation that I have been selected as one of the candidates to attend this year’s event, and I could not be more grateful. This opportunity comes through the Eastern Cape Development Corporation (ECDC), which is supporting emerging filmmakers from our province in showcasing and developing authentic Eastern Cape stories for film and television.
For those unfamiliar with it, FAME Week is Africa’s premier business-to-business conference and market for the film, television, animation, and music industries. It brings together producers, broadcasters, distributors, and storytellers from across the globe. Being part of this platform means learning directly from industry leaders, connecting with potential collaborators, and gaining the kind of exposure that can help take projects from local beginnings to international stages.
Attending FAME Week is a huge milestone in my journey as an emerging filmmaker. I am deeply committed to creating disability-centered stories and amplifying voices that are often overlooked in South Africa. This opportunity will help me position these projects for wider audiences, while staying true to the heart and authenticity of where I come from—the Eastern Cape.
I’m excited for the week ahead, for the conversations, the learning, and the doors that may open. Most of all, I’m honoured to represent not just myself, but also the Eastern Cape’s vibrant storytelling spirit on such a big stage.
Stay tuned on my social media—I’ll be sharing more about my experience during and after FAME Week!
