A few days ago, I opened my inbox to find a beautiful surprise — an email from Elmaré Hendricks, Creative Producer of the upcoming I AM documentary project, under the Diamond Lineage production company.
It read:
“Big congratulations! You have been selected to be part of our upcoming I AM documentary project. Your profile was an important part of our application process with the NFVF, and we are pleased to inform you of this exciting opportunity.”
I met Elmaré earlier this year at FAME Week Africa in Cape Town, where we both proudly represented the Eastern Cape. It was one of those meaningful encounters that immediately felt like the start of something special — and now, a few months later, this connection has come full circle.
The I AM documentary will be a paid project and is supported through applications to PESP 6 and the National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF). I’m deeply honoured to have my story and creative journey included as part of this initiative that celebrates identity, creativity, and resilience.
