I am so excited to share some wonderful news—my short film ThisAbility has officially received its second grant approval, this time from the ECDC (Eastern Cape Development Corporation) Microfilm Fund.
This grant marks a huge milestone in the journey of ThisAbility, a story very close to my heart. The film explores the life of a Deaf girl from the townships who finds herself caught in the taxi crime underworld. It’s a narrative that not only highlights resilience and survival but also sheds light on underrepresented voices and stories in South Africa.
With the support of the ECDC, alongside the earlier grant I received, we are now one step closer to bringing this film to life. Pre-production is in full swing, and filming is set to take place in early October.
I am incredibly grateful to the ECDC for believing in this project and for investing in emerging filmmakers who are passionate about telling authentic, impactful stories. This support fuels the vision to create a film that will resonate both locally and internationally.
The journey of ThisAbility is just beginning, and I can’t wait to share more updates as we continue forward!
